Remember last month when I said Thanksgiving was my favorite holiday because everyone came to our house for my turkey, stuffing, yams, pie & all the trimmings?  Well, I came down with some horrible thing that caused me to cough almost nonstop for days!  So Wednesday  my sister came to pick up everything I had bought and hauled it over to my niece who made the Thanksgiving meal for the family!

Now, here’s the really funny part --- my niece is a fantastic cook , but it seems she has never made a turkey.  My instructions were to wrap it in foil and put it in the oven breast side up.  Imagine everyone’s surprise when they went to carve it and all the white meat was on the bottom!!  They all had a good laugh but she said the meat was really juicy!

By the time I was well again I had some major paperwork to do on my proposals for teaching in Houston next year.  (Yes, friends, I’m back on the teaching circuit --- this “retirement thing” is not for me --- I miss y’all too much!)

Now here it is, the 12th of December and I’m just now starting to get ready for Christmas.  And the dust is so thick I believe I can peel it off in one big layer.  Maybe Santa will clean it up for me!!!

So I’m way behind and will just write to wish all of you, my quilting friends, a happy, healthy, wonderful holiday and a terrific 2008!

Love y’all,
Donna

P.S.  -  Watched a cooking show last week and --- you’ll never guess --- he says the best way to cook a turkey is breast-side-down!!  Well, I never!
